I’m lucky enough that I get to have wordsmithery as part of my day job too. Brey and I run Global Wordsmiths, a community interest company that provides an all-encompassing service for all writers, ranging from basic proofreading and cover design to development editing, typesetting, cover design, and eBook services. A major part of our work is charity and community focused, delivering writing projects to under-served and under-represented groups across Nottinghamshire, giving voice to the voiceless and visibility to the unseen.
We’ve worked with the National Justice Museum, AGE UK, and the National Trust in additional to schools and charities across the UK. Our most recent project, Desire, Love, Identity in association with The British Museum and National Justice Museum, won a Heritage Award.
One of the best things about this work are the annual international writing retreats Brey and I deliver in Spain. Due to COVID, we ran our 2020 retreats in the UK and online, and in 2021, we were in Wales for our number 1 and 3 retreats, as well as delivering individual writing courses online. In 2022, we’ve got WOW Do It! scheduled for March and WOW Intermediate for April 30.
But we’re hoping to be back poolside as soon as it’s safe!
